Ride the wind and dream with AIR PLAY, a modern spectacle that brings to life the very air we breathe. Flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, giant kites floating over the audience, and the biggest snow globe you’ve ever seen will make you gasp in wonder and laugh until it hurts.
“AIR PLAY holds the whole audience in the palm of its outstretched hand. A winning combination of visually stunning sculptures and cheeky but heartfelt storytelling that keeps both adults and children enthralled.”
–British Theatre Guide
AIR PLAY is a circus-style adventure of two siblings journeying through a surreal land of air, transforming the ordinary into objects of uncommon beauty. Fabrics dance in the wind, balloons have a mind of their own, confetti turns into the night sky, and an enormous canopy of hovering silk forever alters their future.
“The curtains open and we see a man holding on to a huge piece of light fabric, dancing in the air, moved by a circle of fans. The wonder begins and I suddenly feel like a child again, receptive to every single magical moment in Air Play.”
— A Younger Theatre
The creation of husband & wife team Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone, AIR PLAY merges their circus and street theater performance art with the sculptural artistry of Daniel Wurtzel. With visual images seemingly sewn from the sky, this poetic ode to childhood will enchant and electrify the young and young at heart.
“You feel you’re witnessing divine natural occurrences rather than carefully devised circus stunts.” –Hartford Courant
“Fun for all ages is a common puff in the arts, but with Air Play it’s strictly true. A joy from start to finish, Air Play will entrance children and act as a great reset button for stressed adults.” –Sydney Morning Herald
If you are a ticket holder for the April 3 show, your options are:
- Keep my tickets. To attend the performance on the new date you do not need to do anything with the tickets. If you have your tickets in hand already you can use those tickets on the new date. If you would like to keep your current tickets for the May 17 show, click here: KEEP MY TICKETS
- Donate my tickets. The Capitol Center, like most nonprofit organizations, runs a lean, efficient operation, but as a presenting theatre much of our cash is tied up in advance ticket sales for performances – when those shows cancel, the financial impact can be devastating. If you are in a position to do so, please consider donating the value of your tickets to the Capitol Center for the Arts to help keep this community resource afloat during this challenging time. If you would like to turn your tickets into a tax-deductible charitable donation to the Capitol Center click here: DONATE
- Refund my ticket purchase to a gift card. We’d love to see you back for a show in the future! If you would like to receive a credit for use toward a future ticket purchase in the form of a digital gift card attached to your account click here: GIFT CARD
- Receive a refund. We understand if the best option for you at this time is to receive a refund. If you purchased your tickets with a credit card, your account will be credited. If you purchased your tickets with cash or a check, you will be mailed a refund check. If you would prefer a refund for the full amount click here: REFUND
If you purchased your tickets via a third-party reseller, rather than directly from us, you will need to follow up with them.
